In December 2019 I visited Pernambuco province, in the arid North east region of Brazil, to start filming a pilot for a documentary on the one Million Cistern project. This extraordinary social engineering initiative has harnessed community power to transform people lives out in the countryside. Apart from building over 1,3 million water cisterns that have made it possible for people to continue to survive on their land it has also helped people like the brothers Montero-Lopez to create thriving agro forestry businesses.
